  • About group: Canaan Missionary Baptist Church has been on the battlefield for our Lord and Saviour since March, 1965. The church was founded by a group of fervent believers who were led by God to establish a new church family committed to spreading the Good News. The first pastor was Reverend Willis Childs Thomas. Pastor Thomas was followed in the pulpit by Rev Arctice L. Hobbs in 1973. In 1977, Reverend Coleman accepted the call to become the Pastor here at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. He has led a plethora of ministries during his distinguished tenure in the pulpit. Most notably, he led Canaan in the establishment of affordable housing for physically challenged and senior citizens in West Dayton. In July 1982, a Ground - Breaking Ceremony was held for the present sanctuary at 5191 Keith A. Byars Sr., Way (Hoover Ave)
