Romans 6:1-2

1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Before we get into this, let me clarify that this blog entry is not endorsing that our works save us. I am a firm believer of 2 Timothy 1:9 which states...

God has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time...

With that being said, do you rely on insurance? In other words, do you depend on God's grace in times when you don't feel like obeying God? If your answer is yes then you should consider this blog, in fear of abusing our Savior.

My family & I were in a car accident on Christmas Eve. Black ice layered the streets and I was careful when driving to avoid any accidents from even occurring. Though we have car insurance, I wasn't recklessly driving because I knew my insurance would cover me if anything happened. That would be abusing my insurance. I then found myself in a situation where I tried my best to not T-Bone the car that illegally turned in front of me despite that he was clearly in the wrong. My car wouldn't stop on time because of the black ice. I didn't take advantage of having insurance as some may have done. I tried to prevent the accident from ever occurring.

Unfortunately, many Christians do not try to avoid sin and take advantage of His grace. They feel as if they can do what they feel because "God will forgive them" or "God knows their heart." God does know their heart and knows that it is DESPERATELY WICKED! This is why we need Jesus Christ, the bridge. We are full of sin that, without the grace of God filling in that gap, would eternally separately us from God. Christians, we cannot sin because others offend us with their actions or lack of action thereof.

We do not sin because God will forgive us or because we "all fall short and aren't perfect." That in essence shows our lack of love for God and should challenge us to evaluate our salvation. NO MORE EXCUSES! The Bible clearly states in 1 John 5:3 that "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." Because of the grace God has shown us, we should show our appreciation of his grace by trying not to sin. However, when we do fall, He will love us and His grace will insure our salvation!

Know your God and please Him.
